Learn how to paint a forest with acrylics. Artist Ashley Krieger is traveling and painting in all 50 U.S. states. Today she takes you to Connecticut to capture the beautiful light shining through the forest. I hope you enjoy learning her process as she paints plein air. While we were in Connecticut we went to the beach, toured a submarine, went to several parks and ate at Frank Peppe's pizza a couple times. I would stay in Connecticut just for that pizza. I had the itch to paint a forest and Connecticut has plenty of that. We found a path by a school where the kids could play on the playground while I painted. The school was surrounded by forest and the light shined so beautifully through the trees. I wanted to capture that light! I painted this one more impressionistic than usual because I wanted the light to be the main focus, not necessarily the trees intricate leaves. I can imagine that the kids at this school walk this beautiful path during their school days. What a beautiful place to learn.
