This November I wanted to make artwork themed around Thanksgiving. After painting a few art pieces, I thought it would be fun to add a quote to each piece. This was very fulfilling, not only did I concentrate on what I was thankful for, I was also being creative!
It is quick, easy and free to make quote cards, like the ones I made. I used Pixlr.com and Canva.com to make my cards. Neither of the apps require downloading anything to your computer, which I love. Here are the simple steps I followed to create my quote cards:
Step 1. Photograph your artwork. I like to use natural light, so I take a picture by my window during the day. I turn the flash off. I also make sure no shadows can be seen on my artwork. Then I upload the photo to my computer.
Step 2. Go to Pixlr.com. Click on launch web App under Pixlr Editor, NOT express. Click on Open Image From Computer. You should now see your photograph in Pixlr. I usually have to rotate my image under the IMAGE tab. Then I play around under the ADJUSTMENTS tab to get my image to look as close to my original work as possible. After the color looks right, save the image. Save is found under the File tab. Give your image a name, select PNG format for the best quality picture.
Step 3. Go to Canva.com. If you have not yet set up an account, you will have to do that before creating anything (it's free to set up). After setting up your account, Canva will take you through a series of "How to use Canva tutorials. Once the tutorials are completed and you're logged in, click on YOUR DESIGNS on the left of the page. Click on CREATE A DESIGN at the top of the site. Select a template to begin. I like the social media or Instagram templates. Once you have chosen your template it's loaded, click on UPLOADS in the very left tab. Then click on the big green button UPLOAD YOUR OWN IMAGES. Navigate to your edited artwork file you created in step 2 and click OPEN.
Step 4. Design. In Canva, add your loaded artwork by dragging it over to your template. Click on the TEXT button in the column on the left. Select a text design that you like and drag it over to your image. I like to use Header. Change the text to your chosen quote by clicking somewhere in the text filed. You can then change the font, size and color to what you think looks best. Step 5. Credit. Be sure to give credit to whom the quote belongs to, and to yourself for your artwork. Step 6. Share! Creating a quote card is simple, and can be a great way to share both your art and an inspiring message. I hope you are enjoying your art and wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving! Which artwork and quote below do you like best? Double click to heart it.
P.S. Be sure to follow me on Instagram, add #createfulart to your quote cards and see them displayed at createfulart.com under student gallery!
