Story: North Dakota is the 4thstate on our journey to travel and paint in each state in America. It is a beautiful place with rolling fields as far as the eye can see, broken up by kettle lakes and small clusters of trees. While we were in North Dakota, one place we stayed was Grahams Island State Park at Devil's Lake. The lake keeps rising, 25 feet in the last decade. Will the lake keep rising? Homes, farm fields and Grahams island may be lost in the future. Meanwhile everyone fishes, the birds sing, and the plants keep growing. Sometimes I feel like I get lost in the fear of the future. As I paint, like always, I find my place to relax and refuge from my fears. I captured that place in this painting.
